KUALA LUMPUR, June 2025 - Pao Yeang Sdn Bhd has completed a revamp of its existing Odoo ERP system across its printing equipment and materials distribution business. The project, delivered by A1 Consulting Sdn Bhd, focused on improving system stability, centralizing data access, and enabling real-time stock visibility across multiple warehouse locations.
The revamp addressed limitations that had built up around Pao Yeang's existing Odoo system. The company had been running Odoo 14 across its accounting, inventory, sales, and warehouse departments, but the deployment was maintained by an external implementation partner that did not provide access to the system's underlying source code, leaving Pao Yeang unable to make changes on its own. That dependency was compounded by a support model that struggled to keep pace: response times were slow, the staging environment used to test changes was unstable, and several issues went unresolved for an extended period despite repeated follow-up.
A1 Consulting was engaged to upgrade the existing system to Odoo version 19. The project reconfigured inventory control processes, restructured user roles and access permissions, and adjusted system configuration to support real-time stock visibility across Pao Yeang's warehouse locations while keeping data access centralized. The scope also included training on Odoo's base modules, with particular focus on the accounting functions used by the finance team. The implementation ran from April to June 2025.
The engagement prioritized stabilizing and gaining full internal control over the existing deployment before considering further expansion. Pao Yeang's Odoo database is also used by PTech, the company's field-service arm for on-site technician support, so the redesign needed to preserve data consistency across both trading and service operations while resolving the access and configuration issues inherited from the previous setup.

The revamped system is intended to support Pao Yeang's plans to expand its user base from 16 to 20, and to accommodate the company's obligations under Malaysia's e-Invoice mandate. Pao Yeang falls under the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia's third e-Invoice implementation phase, which became mandatory for businesses in its turnover bracket from 1 July 2025.
Unlike a greenfield rollout, this project addressed an Odoo system already in daily use, correcting access and support gaps left by a previous implementation partner rather than building the platform from scratch. For a business running four departments on a single shared database, restoring internal control over configuration and support was the more immediate priority ahead of adding new functionality.
